HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania — Investigators in Cumberland County have arrested two men for the video-recorded rape of a 6-year-old boy, police say.

A third person is also being sought in the case.

Note: Some details in this case may be considered disturbing.

Court documents say Ira Task, 61, of Harrisburg, was charged by North Middleton Township police with rape and other child sexual abuse offenses committed against the boy.

Police said another man, William Byers-Augusta, 19, of North Middleton Township, video recorded Task raping the boy.

Court documents state the rape occurred April 20 at a home on North 2nd Street in Harrisburg.

Investigators said the Department of Homeland Security was first to notify officials in July about the incident as they were involved with an ongoing exploitation investigation involving the rape of a child.

The investigation led authorities to a home on Regal View Drive, police said.

Numerous other videos and photographs of child sex abuse were reportedly discovered as well. Investigators said the materials belonged to Byers-Augusta.

He was arrested in July for allegedly possessing child pornography. As police were reviewing his phone, images and video were discovered of two men sexually assaulting a boy.

A recording of the rape was found, police say. There was also evidence other child abuse was live-streamed on the internet from North Middleton Township, police said.

One of those men was Byers-Augusta, police said. The video recording did not show the faces of the men. The other man was seen with several moles on his body and wearing jewelry, investigators said.

Forensic investigations on Byers-Augusta’s phone led investigators to Task, police said. Through their investigation, police said the moles and jewelry matched Task’s body.

Investigators said Task admitted to forcing the boy to inhale amyl nitrite, which is a drug that can give people a high, before the rape. Task also admitted to being HIV positive.

Task was arrested at home, and was employed at the Hershey Lodge, where he worked at manager of catering events, according to Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Director of Communications Kathleen McGraw. McGraw said in a statement Task has been employed by the company since 2008, but has been suspended from his position pending the outside of the criminal investigation.

Hershey said Task had undergone two separate background checks since his employment, with the most recent occurring in July of this year. “Both criminal checks for Mr. Task came back clear. The current policy is for all salaried Hershey Entertainment & Resorts employees to go through a criminal background check every three years,” McGraw said. “These background checks include criminal history scans at both the county and national levels. Annual performance appraisals gave no indication of any criminal or inappropriate behavior while on the Lodge property.”

Task and Byers-Augusta are charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, child pornography and disseminating film or photos of a child sex act.

Research shows one in 10 children in the country are a victim of child sexual abuse by the time they are 18-years-old.

Parents are urged to talk to their kids about body safety, sex and boundaries, and essential to recognize the signs of sexual abuse, including behavior and emotional changes.
